In our featured section we give some attention to the other side there is in skimboarding, people who are creative, the persons behind the action, filmers, photographers, and other “faces” that do so much more.

Our first featured artist is Thijs Slootjes, a Dutch Designer/Art school student, we asked him some questions.

What is design or art, to you?
Design is something weird, it’s cool as well.
But there are so much people that are thinking they are making designs. But they’re just copying from other people or designers.
And I don’t think that’s were design is about.
Design is about being creative,
thinking outside of the box,
making cool stuff.

What is Skimboarding, to you?
Skimboarding is a feeling,
a lifestyle, the passion of my life. Everyday I’m just stoked to go skimming. Next to this, I’ve got school. School is just Designing, and searching for good skimboarding pics, and movies! You could say my life is all about, design and skimboarding!
Skimboarding for me is also a big dream. This is my first year of skimboarding, (waveskimboarding) and I want to improve so much in skimboarding.
Going on skimtrips, and learn a lot from the big guys in the Netherlands.
