That’s right, we’re calling it! That means every unridden wave out there belongs to us!

Promo 2010 #1

We’re very proud to announce that our new teamrider Shawn Kenny will have his first video showcased in the next issue of Foreverskim Magazine!
To see a small teaser of this video, check out link below!

GRRRR!

Ok, this is both hilarious, in a sad way, and definitely STUPID.
For all the people who won @ Skim Invasion’s give-away…
The tees are in the house… and guess what… it was the first package that i sent out to America…
Gotta hate postal services.
Hope you guys will still enjoy your t-shirts! Rock ‘em loud and proud!!!

…and won.

I’m really sorry but it appears the package i’ve sent over to Skim Invasion somehow got lost during shipping.
I’ve went to the post office on monday last week and they’re looking into the package and would contact me as soon as they got something.

i’m really bummed about all this and if the t-shirts are not getting there this week i’m gonna get a new package ready…

My apologies for this thing taking so long but considering the value of the package i sent earlier i’m not really jumpy to just send out another one without having done everything within my power to make sure the first package is unrecoverable.

Hope you all can understand.

- Richard

Richard has made a minimovie, check it out!

Last weekend Color teamriders Nick Maas, Quintian Buteijn, Nienke van Breugel and Richard de Ruijter attended the last event of the dutch skimboarding season, the Holland Skim Jam.
It was the first time this contest was held and it was a great launch of what hopefully will become returning annual event!

The first heat was already bad news for the boys, stuck in a heat with 3 color teamriders it was obvious one had to leave, and unfortunately Nick was the one to go (we still love you buddy!). Bummed us out but hey, there’s still three in the game! he waves were hard, they were quite big (for dutch standards) but because of their size they lost a lot of their power,  Nienke, who was the only female contestant had some trouble with them too, so eventually she fell off.
Once we arrived at the finals Quintian and Richard were still left in the game, they had been skimming the entire day already, and just like all the others in the finals they were TIRED.

on top off that… this happened. (don’t laugh, this is tragic for Richard)

pwnd.

pwnd.

That’s right, some guy decided to take the ol’ icecream car out for a ride… and blew the best wave Richard had.
Almost nobody saw it… so that sucked bigtime, but yea… shit happens we suppose…

Final results were :

4_ Adrien Razafindrakoto

3_ Quintian Buteijn (Color Skimboarding Apparel)

2_ Richard de Ruijter (Color Skimboarding Apparel, Resistance Wetsuits)

Thanks to all the guys that came out, to all the guys that competed, to everyone that bought some tees and to everyone that made this possible! We made some new friends, we re-united with some old friends, and had a very good day!

Pics will follow soon!

Ok, first of all, we know it’s been some time but please understand that we’re busy, and not just busy with the company, but we’re also still going to school, have normal jobs to attend, and going to contests, helping to organize them and working on new prints for the next season is tough!!!

On Saturday the 22nd of August a huge part of the dutch skimboarding community gathered at the beaches of Haamstede for the annual “Dutch Skimfest” it’s become a tradition to end the last week of the summer vacation with this amazing event.
There was a great atmosphere, everyone enjoyed the stickers and posters they got from Color Skimboarding Apparel, also some lucky prizewinners have some cool new t-shirts to rock out now!!!!

Color teamer and head designer, Richard de Ruijter competed in the wave 18+ and ended Second place after Guillaume Detant, a French Ripper.

Also, friend of Color and one of our featured artsts, Thijs Slootjes took first place in the wave -18, winning a sick board from victoria skimboards, Some Tees and more, maybe it’s time to make Thijs more than just a Featured artist… who knows!

Color wants to congratulate all the winners and participants and thank them for an amazing day that we will not soon forget, hope to see you guys next year!!!!

Pics of the contest are comin’ soon!

In the meanwhile, you can check out www.skimboarding.nl and www.dutchskim.nl for more info and pics.

With the kind permission of Nienke i am now posting one of her blogs of her trip through europe here..

Story by Nienke van Breugel Pics are from the Internet (if any photog has © problems, let us know!)

This summer I really wanted to go to the skimboard contests in Santa Cruz (Portugal) and Hossegor (France), so I asked quite a few of my friends to come along… “I have to work”, “I don’t like camping”, and “I haven’t got enough money” were the most heard responses.  So I decided to go anyway, allone.

On Saturday night the 25th of July I left by car to go to my first destination, Cap Ferret. I stayed there for 3 nights, had some nice skim, not very big and a lot of tourists in the water, but still nice.
After those 3 days, on Wednesday the 29th of July (my birthday!) I went to Bordeaux to pick up Manick who accompanied me to Santa Cruz. We started our journey with a traffic jam and it took us 13 hours to get to Santa Cruz. When we arrived at 10pm it came out to be nigh impossible to find the campsite, especially when a security guy from the festival sends you the wrong way. After another hour we finally found the campsite and we were able to put up our tents.
The event was great, I had a few good sessions, met a lot of skimboarders and saw a lot of incredibly good skimboarding.  I also participated in the competition. There were 10 girls and I ended up 5th, and Manick managed to win the contest! I think I could have ended up higher if I didn’t screw up my 2nd heat.  On the last night there were 2 very nice concerts, so we celebrated Manick’s victory with a lot of caipirinha’s and good music!

On Monday the 3rd of August, Manick and I went to Esmoriz for 2 nights. I think the waves overthere were the best waves during my whole skimtrip! Unfortunately we weren’t able to skim those waves because of the massive amount of tourists in the water…

Anyway, we still had some pretty good sessions in the evenings, and it was there that I ate the best hotdog I’ve ever had in my life.
On Wednesday the 5th of August we had to get back to Hossegor. After I had brought Manick to the trainstation in Bayonne, I went to Hossegor to find a campsite. And if you think you can find a free place on campsite in Hossegor in August… think again… After checking 5 campsites which came out to be full, I went to the tourist office. They told me that ALL the campsites in a 25km radius around Hossegor were full (we’re talking about more than 25 campsites here!) They gave me directions to a campsite which had some places left, a 40 minutes drive from the beach. It was a very nice small campsite, too bad it had to be so far from the beach.
It was nice to meet all the other skimboarders again from the UK, Portugal, Spain and ofcourse France. The event in Hossegor was well organised, but the weather screwed it up. I participated in the girls contest, but there was so much wind, we might as well have done some ‘rock paper scissors’ to determine the winner. I ended up 3rd.

After the event in Hossegor I decided to a bit further up north. Just before I arrived at Nantes, my mother sent me a textmessage that she and Paul were staying at a campsite near Nantes, so I payed them a visit. We played a lot of ‘Rummikub’, to great boredom of Paul
After one nigt I moved on to visit Romain at Pornichet and to skim La Courance. Allthough Romain had to work during the day, he was so kind to let me stay at his appartement so I could skim at La Courance during the day, and during the evenings we went to some kind of a wine bar, and we went to a restaurant to eat mussels.
My last stop of this skimtrip was in Oostende, where Richard was spending his holidays with his family. Here we were able to make some last minute preparations for the Dutch Skimfest one week later, and we also had a little bit of skim.
3 Weeks and 5000 kilometers later I got back home, with the intention to go again next year!

For some time now, Romain is struggling with a knee injury.
Here’s some love for you buddy!
Get better soon, we all hope you will heal fast and be able to rip it up again soon!
